Henry VIII, etching on brass cutout and mounted on wood. This plaque appears to have been done for decoration purposes. Whether or not it was originally used in a Pub or some other public room it is hard to say. Henry VIII was a popular symbol representing the good life. Now mostly remembered for his wives, Henry was in his youth and throughout his middle years was known for his love of the finest that life had to offer. An avid sportsman, Henry was known not only for his prowess on the field but also the consummate courtly lover. Agile, graceful, a noted dancer and musician Henry was even known as a composer. Although depicted in his full figure, Henry in his youth was considered by many to be the perfect example of what the future king should be.
